TRUSTEES 2026

Trustees, Members & Some Key Staff

Cranford Community College is a Single Academy Trust. The Academy Trust Board (ATB) is our governing body. Senior Executive Leader: Kevin Prunty (also the Accounting Officer).

Trustees Members

  • Overview

The trustees (also known as governors/directors) ensure the academy is efficiently run and pupils receive the best possible education. Duties include setting vision and values, agreeing the budget, employing staff, monitoring performance and securing a safe, happy environment.

System leadership

Cranford, through its Chief Executive (a National Leader of Education), supports other schools and acts as a hub for best practice, research and innovation. Although the Teaching School Alliance closed on 31 Aug 2021, we maintain legacy strands for staff development funded from trust resources.

We also retain legacy strands from our former Language College status, committed to internationalism and global curriculum opportunities, CPD, and overseas volunteering.

Constitution

The Academy Trust is a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity. Primary governing documents are the Memorandum and Articles of Association. Trustees are also company directors in law. The charitable company operates as Cranford Community College (also historically known as Cranford College / Cranford Community / Cranford Community School / Cranford School).

Organisational structure

The ATB operates strategically and holds the Chief Executive to account. Delegations to the CEO, COO, CFO, Headteachers and other KMP are reviewed at least annually. The CEO oversees strategic and tactical running; Co‑Headteachers lead day‑to‑day operations, supported by the COO and challenged/appraised by the CEO and ATB. Performance related pay has ended nationally for most staff; a coaching and mentoring system will operate from autumn 2025.

Internal & external scrutiny

We are subject to external review by internal scrutineers, external auditors, ESFA, HSE and others. The ATB receives reports, and many are published. We also run satisfaction surveys and benchmark performance through networks and partnerships.

The ATB has elected to remove non‑statutory references to school inspections while calling for a review of the national system.
