Cranford Community College is recruiting graduates to train to become qualified teachers via the School Direct training route.

Cranford Community College is a Lead School for School Direct in partnership with Teach West London.

Successful trainees will undertake a comprehensive programme to gain Qualified Teacher Status and the PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) in conjunction with our partner universities.

In order to apply you need to be a graduate or in your final year at university, and you need GCSE Maths and English grade C or above (and C in Science for Primary training places).

What is School Direct?

School Direct is a school based route into teaching. As a School Direct trainee with Cranford Community College and our ITT provider,Teach West London, you'll learn alongside inspiring, passionate teachers with outstanding pedagogical skills. We will train you to become successful, confident, effective teachers, well equipped to teach in a dynamic and vibrant London School. 

Successful School Direct trainees will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the option to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) worth 60 Masters level credits.

Applicant Requirements:

  • A relevant degree from a UK university or a recognised university abroad (UK ENIC assessed)
  • The degree must be linked to the subject you want to train to teach for secondary, but this is not required for primary. 
  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (and Science for primary)
  • Although not essential, experience of working with children and or young people would be an advantage.

Bursaries:

Candidates may be offered training places which may attract tuition fee loans, training bursaries or scholarships depending on subject and class of degree. Candidates will be required to pay £9,250 training fee. This may be financed with a student loan.

Good role models representative of the local population - we want candidates who demonstrate the qualities outlined above and who are good role models, representative of the wider community. We are also particularly keen to hear from classroom assistants, career changers and those returning to work after a career break.
