Cranford Community College is located in West London (TW5 9PD) and is served directed by bus routes 105, H28 and 111 

Cranford Community College is very well resourced, has superb facilities and beautiful grounds encompassing some 40 acres of quality developed land for use by the academy and its community. 

The academy serves a deprived, but increasingly confident and aspirational, community which benefits greatly from having an outstanding primary school and secondary school in its midst.

Standards and expectations in an outstanding school are high and it is hard, but very rewarding, work for teachers wanting to make a real difference for children and with a community lacking advantage.

Cranford is not a place where it is possible for anyone to 'coast' but it is a place of accomplishment and personal and professional growth and hence a great place to work. 

Cranford Community College gained Academy status in April 2011 and continues to develop its ambitions and vision, including through a Community Conference to be held on 8 & 9 July 2022 when the wider community will be brought together again, for the third time since Mr Prunty became the Head Teacher, to help shape the vision and direction for the academy for the next decade, and beyond its Golden Jubilee in 2025.

The ATB will host the academy's third community conference (CCCCC2022) and nearer the time further details will be posted on the website of what's involved and how to become part of conference.

This year, of course, there will also be activities in recognition of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and the academy's focus on post-pandemic recovery / catch-up in terms of social and culural capital in particular, will compound a sense of restored normality and help address pandemic related stress, anxiety and begin to redress the limitation of personal control which has featured more during the last 2 years.  

The Executive Headteacher has served the community, in which he grew up, throughout his professional career and recently celebrated his silver jubilee since joining Cranford. He has been a Headteacher for 22 years and worked as a teacher for 33 years. Mr Prunty has provided school to school support as a National Leader of Education and outlined an intention to continue in post at least until 2030, after his ruby anniversary as a teacher, before expanding and moving full-time into his charity work. 

The academy is full of opportunity, excitement and experiment but has constant strong values and this combination is responsible for a excellent stability of staffing.

Children and staff have a multitude of opportunities to grow, develop, learn and train at the academy, where new opportunities are regularly created and abound.

Many experienced teachers who have joined the academy from other schools have later said that Cranford is the place where they 'really learned how to teach well' and became a great teacher, achieving with and for children with whom success had eluded them previously.

The community conference in summer 2022 will (alongside the Junior Citizenship 2022 fortnight being run again this year for Year 6 students in every Hounslow Primary School), in part, open up debate and encourage healthy activism on equalities, the environment and climate change, mental health and wellbeing, overcoming digital poverty and developing a unified vision and collaborative community commitment to raising the next set of ambitions in terms of impact. Safeguarding will be a core theme and the academy will seek mutual respect and understanding in areas such as being good neighbour

The academy seeks to develop young people as well qualified, broadly educated, well-skilled, confident individuals with positive self-esteem who are good citizens, care about their community, who ‘do’ rather than just comment and who, through mistakes sometimes, learn right from wrong. 

Teaching and Support Staff vacancies are always posted on the academy website and may also advertise in the relevant press but not normally on social media as it can be indirectly discriminatory to do so. 

Cranford has a fair pay policy and salaries are assessed on appointment to recognise relevant experience so that pay remains equitable. Salaries are not negotiated in the recruitment process. 

The academy offers a range of contracts and bespoke arrangements which are family friendly, for example, all year round (leadership), term time only, fixed numbers of weeks, full-time hours, part-time hours, flexible working, shift work, sabbaticals, job-shares, etc depending on the circumstances.

Cranford is committed to its workload and wellbeing charter. The academy offers a range of well-being support, free Counselling, Medical health plans (24 hour Doctorline, Counselling, medical imaging (diagnosis), dental, optical, therapies (acupuncture, physio, chiro, osteo, homeopathy, etc), health club concessions, chiropody, Occupational Health service, support with claims, legal advice), family support etc.

The academy supports the staff association to foster a whole school team, provides accommodation support for new and existing staff, has a variety of bespoke flexible working arrangements, offers free annual flu vaccinations and this year added Covid immunisation. The academy Christmas gifts, staff socials, Treats (samosas), refreshments, big birthdays and life events, taxis in specific situations, An active staff association organises theatre trips, social events,

KIT (pandemic and generally in case of absence), risk assessments .

Cranford offers a great deal to succssful applicants. Due to the high volume of applications received, it is academy policy that no feedback is given either on application or following the recruitment process.

If offered a contract, it will be conditional upon the following:

  • The academy trust being satisfied with all professional and character references, safeguarding checks undertaken and all other checks deemed to be appropriate by the academy, including checks on salary declarations, employment history and education history.

Essential checks would normally include an Enhanced DBS check / certificate, a (list 99) barred list check, an NCTL prohibition from teaching check, a Section 128 check for those to be employed in management positions (including TLR positions) and local police or other similar checks on those who have lived or worked outside the U.K.

  • Satisfactory evidence of identity.

Either a valid passport (authenticated as genuine by the issuing state if not a U.K. passport) or a government issued photo identification card (authenticated as genuine by the issuing state if not a U.K. photo ID)

  • Satisfactory evidence of academic qualifications.

This must include original certificates demonstrating (i) a pass in GCSE (or equivalent) pass in English language and mathematics, (ii) an appropriate degree qualification and (iii) accurate disclosure of other relevant academic qualifications and grades.  

  • Satisfactory evidence of relevant Professional Qualifications

This must include evidence of Qualified Teacher Status, QTS (where applicable) or evidence of having passed the Teacher Skills Tests in literacy and numeracy for unqualified teachers.  

  • Satisfactory evidence of eligibility to work in the U.K.

This may include evidence of a visa or meeting the necessary visa requirements if an application is pending or in progress. N.B. A permanent contract cannot be made with a teacher who does not have the right to live and work in the U.K. indefinitely.

  • Recent and acceptable proof of current address (no more than three months old).
  • Satisfactory completion of the academy’s teacher application form and any other pre-employment administration including accurate and honest disclosure of employment, education and qualifications history, accurate declarations regarding convictions and disqualifications and of connectivity and other relevant interests.
  • Accurate completion of the pre-employment IMASS medical questionnaire and, where required, a satisfactory medical assessment, by phone or in person as necessary.
