Cranford students have once again achieved a phenomenal set of GCSE results outperforming peers across the country and surpassing even last year’s stellar results.

92% of students have passed English at their first attempt with Maths also continuing their upwards trajectory from last year at 86%. Even more significantly 68% of this stunning cohort have achieved the government’s key measure of level 5 and above in Maths and English, a rise of over 5%. Overall attainment and EBACC results are also up and well above the local and national average.

Progress is always the key measure at Cranford and here again the students have smashed all local and national expectations managing a progress 8 score more than half a grade better than the national average, showing Cranford students do more than half a grade better, in every subject, than their peers nationwide.

Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Prunty said: “We are absolutely delighted by the brilliant GCSE results our Year 11 students have achieved today. The progress students make is always excellent at Cranford and it is particularly pleasing to see our competitive students keep breaking records and gaining more and more of the very top grades thanks to their hard work, the very high quality of teaching and support and the constant encouragement from their families. This all bodes very well for Cranford’s thriving sixth form.”

With the whole Cranford community shining, there are so many Cranford students who have done exceptionally well it is hard to pick just a few. Some particular stars include:

Joseph Tan and Aminah Yousuf both achieved a hugely impressive 8 level 9s each with Attainment 8 scores of 9, the maximum! Both are looking at Maths, Further Maths and Economics as their Cranford A level choices with Aminah intending to add Computer Science and Joseph English Literature.

Miadeep Sahota came through a challenging year with flying colours also obtaining 7 level 9s and 2 level 8s. A feat matched by Jaskiran Bhuller. They will pursue English Literature and Psychology A levels at Cranford next year, with Miadeep also planning to study Chemistry and Jaskiran History.

Tashmin Kaur, Harneet Sarna, Najma Azzizi, Sousan Hakeemi and Shubheksha Singh secured a whopping 20 level 9s and 19 level 8s between them. All 5 girls have enrolled to continue their highly successful studies in Cranford’s sixth form.

Not to be outdone, Chaudhray Mahmood, managed 5 level 9s and 2 level 8s and topped the progress rankings, reaching a progress score of 4.2, meaning on average he was well over four grades better than other students nationally from his starting point across every subject.

Other hugely impressive exam achievements include Picasso students Mohammed Bhatti, Kaiser Malik and Adam Stow who passed 9-11 GCSEs each with amazing grades including 2 level 9s for Kaiser, Level 8s in English and Maths for Mohammed, and an 8 and a distinction for Adam. All three boys got their EBACCs with all grades above a level 5.

It was also a good year for twins with Abid and Alif Akhan gaining 12 grades at 7-9 between them and Progress 8 scores of +4 and +3 respectively, meaning they outperformed other students nationally from their starting points by a massive margin, something our other Year 11 set of twins Sana and Shahid Khan also achieved.

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students and amazing staff on an unbelievable effort. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it has to be the right village and Cranford has once again shown there is no limit to what a highly aspirational and cohesive community can achieve.
