LUNCH ROTA

There are three main canteens (Dining Hall, Concert Hall and the ‘Cranford Suite’.

These will open at Break 1 and Break 2 only.

The academy will also be taking the management of the catering provision under its umbrella for 2022-23 at least and is seeking to invest in making significant improvements in the infrastructure and the range, quality and healthiness of the food offer and does not envisage contracting out to a private business in the current economic climate.

The academy will replace all kitchen equipment with new in October 2022.

In 2022-23, we envisage radical changes to the organisation in lunch venues with greater responsibility being given to students for their care.

We encourage students to spend as much time as they can out in the fresh air, being active sensibly.

Travelling to and from  / Entering & Exiting the academy

Students, and those staff who can, are expected to walk or cycle to the academy rather than take public transport.

Year 7: The walk to school, whilst having many health and other benefits, may be a longer walk than many are accustomed to so it may be advisable to make a practice before your start date and get an accurate idea of how long it will actually take.

Early arrival to school is more important than ever as the academy will seal its inner site to all by closing the entry gates and routes. promptly each day to maintain the academy’s safeguarding bubble.

This means staff and students leaving early enough every day to still arrive on time even if there were to be unexpected events or transport problems. Everyone needs to allow extra time for journeys when there is advance notice of disruptions (e.g.  inclement weather, transport strikes, etc.)

The academy gates will open at 8 a.m. each day and all students must be on site before 9.20 a.m. at the latest. We encorage students to arrive earlier for social and other benefits.

Year groups have a fixed entry and exit route as set out below and the academy deploys staff to duties before school, at breaks and after school to ensure safe practices, train students in situ and implement academy safety policies.

The site and premises are also monitored at these times via CCTV, which has been upgraded and expanded in summer 2022.

In severe, inclement weather, Cranford SuperDome and other large indoor spaces may be opened to allow more sheltered but spacious and airy accommodation.

There is some weather protection along the concourse and more will be installed around the site along with increased external and outdoor furniture throughout 2022-23
