To study A-Level courses you need an Attainment 8 Score of 5 - 5/4 depending upon the subject criteria - and meet the individual subject criteria. To study four A-Levels or Further Maths you need an Attainment 8 Score of 6 and meet the individual subject criteria. To study four A-Levels you must have a grade A* - B in each of the subjects you want to study.
To calculate your Attainment 8 Score each GCSE grade is allocated a score: A*= 8, A=7, B=6, C=5, D=4, E=3, F=2, G=1, U=0. Work out your English and Maths score then double it. Work out your best three EBacc subject scores and add them together. Work out your best 3 other subject scores and add them together. Finally add the three figures together and divide by 10.
EBacc Subjects – GCSE Sciences, Computing, Languages, Geography and History.
You will then be invited to attend a Year 11 into 12 consultation meeting in February/March 2017, where you will discuss your choices with a member of staff. You should bring your latest school report and evidence of any examination results.
Following the consultation you will be sent a letter which details your preferred subjects. Enrolment onto your chosen course is subject to you meeting the entry criteria and a reference from your current school. You will be invited to attend our Taster Day in June 2017, where you will have the opportunity to participate in a taster session of your preferred subjects and experience an introduction to the Cranford Sixth Form.
The day after you receive your GCSE examination results, the enrolment process for entry onto your chosen courses begins. You should ensure that you enrol in a timely fashion to secure a place on your chosen course. Staff will be available to discuss and advise you on the best pathways available to you.
We welcome applications from all students who wish to continue their education in our outstanding Sixth Form..
